Praděd Hiking Trip

Hey people,

ESN VSB – TU Ostrava goes hiking again. This time it will be quite difficult, exceptionally beautiful and with a limited capacity. We will conquer the Praděd (in English Great Grandfather) mountain which is the highest mountain of the Jeseníky mountain range. On top of the mountain there is an antenna tower which is the highest place in the Czech Republic.

We have ordered a private bus that will take us comfortably from dormitories in Ostrava – Poruba directly under the mountain. Therefore, the capacity of the trip is limited. First, we will visit an old spa town Karlova Studánka where you can try local spring water which has a unique taste. Then we are going to hike. Our hiking path leads in a beautiful environment along a river with many wooden bridges. On the top there are restaurants where we can have lunch.

❗️For a pleasant experience, we strongly recommend bringing proper hiking shoes (ideally waterproof). There might be some snow on the top. The difficulty of the trip is high (in total approx. 20 km horizontally and 800 m vertically and with a few easy climbing parts). It’s nothing extreme, don’t worry. :)
