Hey people,
ESN VŠB – TU Ostrava organizes an excursion to the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center (IT4Innovations) which is part of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava. The first Anselm supercomputer, with its theoretical peak performance of 94 TFLOPs, was installed in temporary containers in May 2013. Currently ranking 87th most powerful supercomputer in the world, Salomon was put into operation in July 2015. Since the summer 2015, both supercomputers have been installed in the new IT4Innovations building in the Poruba campus. Besides operating the supercomputers, IT4Innovations is a representative of excellent research in IT area, particularly in the field of supercomputing (i.e. High Performance Computing). IT4Innovations is a research centre with strong international connections. Since its foundation in 2011, IT4Innovations has been a member of PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), a prestigious pan-European research infrastructure, where it represents the Czech Republic. Moreover, IT4Innovations is also involved in the European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing (ETP4HPC), which is focused on defining the research priorities in the area of supercomputing in Europe.

The excursion is for free for you, but we need to provide them a list of participants’ names because they need to create the entrance cards for you. Therefore, there is a deadline for registrations, the registrations are binding (if you register, please attend the excursion despite there is no cancelation fee) and only the registered people can attend the excursion.
