Hey people,
Would you like to visit something unique which became a symbol of Ostrava? Here it is, our whole day excursion to the Lower Vítkovice. Normally, old factories are abandoned or demolished. However, we in Ostrava did a different thing. Our big former ironworks were transformed into a cool place for big music festivals which take place usually in summer. Apart from those festivals, you can find there all year-long open museums, science and technology centres, theatres, restaurants, a music club, a climbing center and other facilities.
Program of our excursion:
11:00 – a 100-minute guided tour (in English) around the blast furnace about the Vítkovice history and the production of pig iron. It includes a 30-minute break at the Bolt Tower which is located on the top of one of the blast furnaces and offers a great view of Ostrava.
13:00 – Lunch in a restaurant (You will buy what you want)
14:00 – Visit to a totally interactive science and technology centre. You can play with many things there and so you can learn how they work. Also, there are workshops, where you can create your own souvenirs, and a 3D cinema. The centre is open until 20:00 and you can leave anytime you want.
The fee for this excursion is a bit higher but still, it is much cheaper whit ESN than if you would go there alone. In case you would be interested just in the visit to the science and technology centre, we recommend you going there alone on any Tuesday because there are “happy hours” from 14:00 to 18:00 and you will pay just 90 CZK for the entrance.
